Presentation by Class III B, on the topic- ‘Health and Fitness’

Importance of health and fitness was emphasized with the help of a skit wherein a small kid who, like kids these days ,loves to eat junk food, hardly does any physical activity and spends too much time watching T.v and electronic playing games ,falls ill. When the doctor monitors him, he points out all these bad and unhealthy practices which need to be discontinued. The doctor also provided some tips for a healthy mind and body which we all need to practice everyday.

Physical activity will not only help today’s children by preventing them from becoming obese or helping them to lose weight if necessary, it will also teach them healthy habits that can last a lifetime. Here are some top reasons why  kids should get plenty of exercise:

1.     Not just physical, but mental exercise is also a very important part of wellbeing.

2.     Exercise helps kids achieve and maintain a healthy body weight.

3.     Regular physical activity helps build and maintain strong, healthy muscles, bones and joints.

4.     Exercise aids in the development of important interpersonal skills—this is especially true for participation in team sports.

5.     Exercise improves the quantity and quality of sleep.

6.     We should eat our breakfast like a King and lunch a soldier and dinner like a beggar. We should drink atleast 8-10 glasses of water everyday.

7.     Kids who exercise have greater self-esteem and better self-images.

8.     Participating in regular physical activity prevents or delays the development of many chronic diseases (e.g., heart disease, diabetes, obesity, hypertension) and promotes health.

9.     Children who are active report fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression and a better overall mood.

10.                        Exercise helps improve motor coordination and enhances the development of various motor performance skills.

In the end, children presented a dance performance which was a combination of jazz and aerobics, using hoolahoops and footballs.
